Home Made Advent Calendar

Greetings ninjas!  I just got done making an advent calendar for my daughter.  It might sound a bit daunting to make one, but it was not as hard or expensive as I thought. Here are a few ideas to remember:

Lots of Minifigures:
It might seem tough to come with 24 separate gifts, but minifigures are a good place to start.  The Double Decker couch is a great value for that.  You get 5 of them, all main characters from the movie, and you get the couch and a small car. Its even on sale right now too!  You might also try the Batman and Angry Kitty set. This is also on sale. You get three minifigures, including a Batman and Uni Kitty variant, plus a micro manager for less than ten dollars. If you break them up into one small present per day, that's respectively 7 or 4 days worth of presents.

Some people don't like fake me outs, but your kids won't notice and they are a good way to expand your options for a small amount of money. For example, you can find a set of 24 DC and Marvel comic Lego (like) figures for 16 dollars. You might also try the build your own minifigure station at the Lego Store.  This lets you build three minifigures for 9.99. The advantage of this is that you can build something rather specialized.

Of course, you can't forget to check yard sales! I found the 5 minifigures below for a very good price. I paid 10 dollars for all of those figures, when just one Pharaoh is worth that price on Ebay!

Storage:
Most families have a giant pile of Legos in storage.  The first option is to build something with that useless pile, and present that as a gift. Or you can take a bunch of pieces you think are good for building and make them a present.  You might also do a combination of both and in the picture you can see I made a snow flake stand for Anna.  I then took it apart slightly and then bagged it.  This option doesn't cost you any money, just a bit of time!

If you're not that creative don't worry, I'm not either, you might try to find instructions and sets online.  I found a very good reindeer and I could tell my daughter its Sven. The free montly Lego magazine has some instructions. This months' included a Christmas tree and basic reindeer.

Themed Candy:
You'll also notice the picture includes some rock candy that looks like ice. I thought it was a great treat to go with all of her Legos.  I found a bag of rock candy online for about 5 dollars. This was a great low cost purchase and it ended up being 3 days worth of presents.  Of course, if you aren't that creative you can get some molds at a very good price. Then you can make jello, chocolate, and crayons in the shape of Lego men or bricks.

Accessorize:
If you read this blog regularly, you already know I love to pimp out my Legos. Along with your boxes of old Legos pieces you probably have a bunch of boring, faded minifigures from the 80s. You can buy some cool accessories that turn them into a Viking, Roman, gladiator (pictured above), space marine, or desperado.  Brick Forge is having a great sale on blind bags right now. You can get 10 minifigure parts in a bag that normally costs 3 dollars.  With the buy one get one free you get 20 parts for 3 dollars. (Plus a few dollars for shipping.) Its kind of blind luck on what you get, but you should get a good variety of pieces to spice up several of your Lego men. For comparison, buying the swords, armor, and helmet for that gladiator costs about 5 dollars on its own. So its a great deal.

I also found a nice head of Anubis on Ebay. It was only 2 dollars, combined with some weapons and shipping I only spent about 8 dollars to get a very unique Lego. I used one of the torsos and feet from the evil foot soldiers in Guardians of the Galaxy and now its going to be one of the awesome parts of her collection. It goes really good with the Pharaoh I already have, and the Egyptian Queen I got as well. (My daughter is really liking Egyptian themed items right now. I blame Scooby Doo.)

Here you'll see the final product, where I have a Pharaoh, Cleopatra, and Anubis ready for wrapping:

Deals!!!
As always, pay attention to deals.  I regularly highlight them on this blog.  One of the best I found was the old Mixel series that went on sale for one dollar!!!! This was an insane deal and I literally grabbed as much as I could carry.  For the calendar I mostly used Series 4 flying blue creatures. Keeping with the Frozen theme as much as possible I sold it to my daughter as Elsa's flying monkeys.  (She loves Wicked too so I thought she would understand it.)

Use your Christmas Purchases:
This method is somewhat different from finding good deals. This lets you buy your purchases like normal. Then you can divide up the pieces from the purchase.  Most 40 dollar sets have about 400 pieces and 5 minifigures. You can give them the minifigures once per day, and divide the pieces into small chunks.  Your child then builds whatever they can using the pieces they have and try to guess what the final product is.  Then on the last day you give them the instructions and they can see how well they guessed and then build the product as intended.

So there you have it.  The normal advent calendars cost between 30 and 40 dollars (or even more if you wait until the end of November.) With some time, effort, and careful planning you can easily produce a calendar and all 24 gifts for far less than that. It will mean even more since you made the gifts very thoughtfully.  Of course, it will also be way more special. I showed my daughter that last picture and she was practically giddy.  As always, like me on facebook to receive the latest updates. Good luck ninjas!!

37% Off Guardians of the Galaxy

Greetings ninjas! I just discussed how you can get good deals if you are willing to wait a little bit.  The Guardian of the Galaxy sets are over a year old but they're being retired and now they're on sale.

You have some options here. The biggest set is 26% off. You get the Milano space ship, plus Star Lord, Drax, Gomora, and Ronan.  That is 4 main characters plus an extra evil foot soldier, and you get two space ships.

The next set is Nowhere escape. I already paid full price for this one (I was still earning my ninja stars back then) but now its 10 dollars or 26% off!. The real draw for this one of course is the Rocket Raccoon and Groot figures.  Unless you got the small polybag, the Rocket Raccoon figure is very hard to get! You also get Nebula (or the evil blue chick as I call her) and a foot soldier. It might not seem like it, but that little flying ship is actually pretty cool. It has nice colors and sticker prints.  I thought it was a bit overprice at 39.99, but 29 is a good value.

I'll likely buy the last set. Its normally 19.99 but its 37% off and selling for 12.59 right now!  This is about the same cost as many army builder sets. Here you would get Star Lord and both a good guy and bad guy foot soldier.  Three minifigures and two small space ships is a pretty good value for this set.

This is a great chance to get your kids some cool discounted sets for Christmas!  Mine loves Chris Pratt, so now I'll be able to get her another one of his Lego figures. (Emmett from the Lego Movie and his Jurassic World character are the other two!!) As usual, with Amazon you get some other perks as well. With Amazon prime you get free shipping. And this is way before Christmas so you can safely choose no rush shipping and get a dollar credit on ebooks and music.

Good luck ninjas! As always, like me on facebook to stay updated with the most current news.  For example, today there are two free Lego events!!

How to save 40% at the Lego Store

Greetings ninjas! Christmas is coming up very soon and I thought I should talk strategy. It might seem odd to discuss Christmas in October, but there are several important deals right now, that might it vital to discuss this early.  What follows if a short guide in how to maximize your money during the Christmas season.

Double Points
I mentioned earlier how you can start to rack up coupons during double points months.  The Lego store offers a VIP card that gives you a 5 dollar coupon for every 100 dollars you spend.  During double points months, you get a 5 dollar coupon for every 50 dollars you spend. That might not sound like a high amount, but Legos can add up quickly. One of my favorites is the Temple of Arijitzu. It costs 200 dollars. If I bought that during the double points months that give me 20 dollars of coupons!! Double points ends this month on the 14th!

Add ons:
On top of that, if you are going to spend that kind of money, you should shop during the special holiday promotions.  Last year I got a great Elf Workshop when I bought 99 dollars or more of products.  This year they have an adorable red train.  Again, if you have multiple kids, or even one kid that wants a mid priced set, you can easily reach 100 dollars.  If you are spending that money anyway you can time it so you also get a great Christmas themed item.  This item is only available from the 13th of October to the 13th of November.  So you’ll want to shop on the 13th or 14th of October so you get double points and the holiday train!!

Investment Items:
Maybe you don’t have any big ticket items on your list. You can still buy advent calendars in October and resell them around Thanksgiving. (Don't tell the Lego store employees you plan on doing that. They don't like it.) Most people don’t realize until its too late that advent calendars sell out by late October so there is a good market for these. The Star Wars version is particularly popular.  Last year me and my daughter got a great Darth Vader with red trim and a red cape, as well as an R2D2 dressed like a Christmas tree. These are great for your kids, but they also make great investment items.  Last year right around Thanksgiving (right before the advent month starts) they were selling for about 10-20 dollars higher than their sticker price. (Last year's LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 75056 is selling for almost double its original price).  So you can purchase a calendar in October, get the free holiday train set , and double vip points for the purchase, and then turn around a month later and recoup all of your money and even make a little profit.  To a lesser extant you can do this with the minifigures as well. These are highly specialized figures that come in blind bags and cost 4 dollars each. If you need to reach 100 dollars to get the promo you can buy a few of these and open them to see what they are, and then resell them. If you're ambitious might also like to keep them for a home made advent calendar.  On top of that, they are Halloween themed. So if you decide to keep them you get some cool monster themed Legos you can pull out every year.

Adding it up:
In short, you can easily get the holiday promotion and rack up coupons without spending that much money.  The Star Wars Advent Calendar is 40 dollars, your families Christmas presents are another 40 dollars, and you get 5 minifigures for 20 dollars which gets you up to 100 dollars, plus tax that would be about 107 dollars.

But if you sell back the advent calendar for a small profit (about 50 dollars would be a safe assumption) and two of the minifigures you don’t want (at cost) you’ll get around 58 dollars back. You will also get 10 dollars in coupons for purchasing during a double points period.  And you’ll get a train set worth 15 dollars. If you don’t sell the train set that means you got 67 dollars (115 for the total worth of your products, minus the 48 dollars at cost of the products you sold back) of Lego products for only spending about 39 dollars!!!! (107 dollars spent minus the 58 you sold them for and 10 dollars of coupons)  That is close to 40% off!!!!!

Plus, you’ll be getting money into your account right around the start of December which is always nice for buying some more presents or those lousy fundraisers your kids have. I don’t know if you’re like me, but getting extra money into account feels like new money, even if you’re just getting back what you just spent.  So it’s a nice psychological boost when you need it.

You’ll have to do a little bit of work.  Though making a trip to the store, selling on ebay, and dropping off a package aren’t terribly difficult actions.  And if you’re reading this blog you likely have the motivation to save money and see the effort as very worth it.  You can get some Christmas presents, a nice Christmas Lego you can use year after year, some Halloween Legos you can use year after year, you get some coupons for more Legos, and you can help somebody out who is panicking about an advent calendar at the start of December. And you can do all of this for 40% off at a total cost of 39 dollars and some time spent!  Ninja level achieved!  As always, make sure to follow me on facebook for the most current updates.  For example, there is a free giveaway at Toys R Us this Saturday.

32 Dollars of Legos for 10: Ninja Mission Accomplished!

Greetings ninjas! Earlier this month I managed to score quite a few Legos for only 10 dollars!! Here is what I got:

Here is how I did it and some ideas to consider as you shop.

1. Free goodies:

You'll see in the top left is a Storm Trooper Lego. This was a limited edition door gift on force Friday.  Toys R Us and many other places have these deals on a regular basis. Force Friday started Thursday night at midnight, but most of these are on Saturday mornings. They are small, and they might take some time, but they are a great way to spend time with your kids. After awhile the free stuff starts to add up. I've got a Lego door to Jurassic World, Sponge Bob in a top hat, a Frankenstein Halloween figure, and now an exclusive Star Wars piece for free!!

2. Sales:

The next item is a scene from the Lego movie.  It normally costs 13 dollars, but it was on sale for 6.45.  That is 50% off!! The drawback is that the movie was over 18 months ago. So if your child really really wanted a particular item from the movie this method wouldn't work. But if you can handle waiting, and don't mind getting whatever is unwanted and still in stock by then, it works out well. Me and my daughter loved the movie, but we didn't really need or want this set. So getting three mini figures (two of them main characters), and a nice little building was a good deal for us.

3. Divide and Sell:

We bought two very nice sets earlier in the year. The Double Decker Couch and the Angry Kitty set had all of the main characters and some nice small sets like Emmett's car for very good prices. As a result of this, we already had an Emmett and I decided to sell that figure on Ebay. With all of these good deals the market isn't too high for that figure, but I did sell him for 2.49.  If you subtract that from the original (sale) price, I only paid 4 dollars for this item!!! If you are buying for your kids this can be hard to do. I simply explain to my daughter that we probably don't need two of the same thing, and when we make money on ebay, that becomes even more money for buying Legos! You might also want to carefully consider the resell value of the product.  If you might want any set as an investment product, then its vital that you have the entire set.

4. Reward Points:

At the bottom you see 4 mystery bags. These are specialized minifigures that are released in groups of 16. They are fun little purchases, especially if you are good at feeling items within the bag to know what you are getting.  The current series is monster themed and we managed to find 4 that we liked. These are normally 3.99 each. But I decided to cash our my reward points at the Lego store and I payed only 6 dollars!

You get one reward point for every purchase and after 100 dollars you get a 5 dollar coupon.  That sounds like many purchases to get there, but keep in mind that's essentially 5% off every purchase. Sometimes the Lego store has double point months, where it only takes 50 dollars to get there. (Those months usually have special exclusive products that are free when you get over 100 dollars. I'll talk about how to maximize those deals in a future Christmas strategy post.)  In double point periods it means every purchase is 10% off.  On top of that, the Lego club offers special coupons.  With any purchases in that month it automatically rewards you 100 points or 5 dollars of your next purchase.  That might sound like a gimmick to buy more products.  But when you are buying products that range from 1 dollar to 2.50, you can rack up those points rather quickly.

When all is said and done I bought 25 dollars worth of Lego products, and got an exclusive brick currently selling for 7 dollars on Ebay for 10 dollars!!! So don't blow all your money on full price Legos and end up like Chewie here.  Good luck ninjas!  I don't always create a post on this blog for every deal. So as always, please follow me on facebook to stay update on the most current deals!

Free stuff on Force Friday

This week is "Force Friday." This is a big unveiling of lots of new Star Wars toys products.  Over at Bricks and Bloks, Kurt has the run down of the lego sets you'll see.  Toys R Us has an unidentified Star Wars Poster starting at midnight. (This is a good sign that it has something to do with the new movie.) There is no word on any qualifying purchases that you make, but it seems like a door prize if you care to shop at Midnight on Friday.

The Lego Store is having their own deal. They are offering a free C 3PO polybag. This is a special Episode VII version where he has a red arm. (I'll assume the movie will explain that.)  There is no word on the qualifying purchase, but I imagine it will be for spending 50 or 75 dollars. That sounds like a big amount, but there are lots good sets coming out, and the cheapest so far is 30 dollars.  So if you were planning on getting some new Star Wars Legos, you will likely hit that number pretty quickly, and this is a good chance to get an extra Lego or poster as well!!  Good luck ninjas, and as always, like me on facebook for more updates!

20% Off Exo Suit!

Greetings ninjas! I've had my eye on a cool set for a long time, and now its 20% off!!!  The Lego Exo suit is from the ideas line.  These are ideas developed and supported by Lego fans, some of which are then officially made my Lego. For example, they also have Walle, Ghostbusters, and Bing Bang Theory Legos.

They all look really good, but being designed for adults, and having to deal with license issues, most of them are more expensive than normal Legos. But at 20% off the set has far better value. It has been very popular and recently discontinued, so the stock will quickly disappear. Its the only set to offer green space figures, who recall the classic space line. The minifigures are also modeled after the two creators of the idea, and one of them is a women! (I'm always trying to get more female figures for my daughter that aren't princesses.)

It has a cool main figure (though its somewhat fragile and more for display than playing.) It looks a little bit like the cool suit that Ripley wore fighting the Queen in Aliens. There are several cool accessories like a neat little turtle and several barrels. The set also comes with very detailed instructions that include a history of its design and some scenarios for playing.

Demand  has been very high for this set, so I'm surprised its still in stock and even more surprised its on sale. I've also heard it will likely increase in value a great deal once the existing stock is depleted. While the market is being flooded with below cost items right now, it will increase in value and might make a decent investment Lego you can sell in the future.  Good luck ninjas! As always, make sure to follow me on facebook to get all the most current updates!!

Free Lego Poster and 33% off Romans!

Greetings ninjas! I have two quick deals to tell you about. The first is a free Lego Stars Poster with any purchase from the Lego store. This includes things like the 4.99 key chains! This is a great deal if you can walk into a Lego store, find a key chain or other item sale, and avoid paying shipping. If you have to buy it online its not as great of a deal, but its a good chance to finally pull the trigger and get a Stars Wars Lego and a poster!

The other deal is from a great site called Brick Warriors. I love this site and order from here fairly often.  They are having 33% off their Roman items with the code: ROMAN33.  As I said before, the Roman Legion now costs 24.55 on Amazon. While on Brick Warriors you can buy a Roman helmet, armor, shield, and sword, for about 4 dollars without the discount.  When you lower that by 33% you can buy the extras like the plume or a spike for the shield and still pay about 3 dollars for all the items.  There are also a great number of Gladiator themed items as well. I have a pauldron (a piece of shoulder armor and a diagonal strap across the chest) and a cestus, (a spiked boxing glove) that look amazing! There is a 10 dollar minimum and some shipping, so I usually order about 10 dollars to get money's worth. This is especially good for parents with multiple children, so they can each have their really cool Roman guy or gladiator. For less than the cost of one adult movie ticket you can turn three of these guys:
Into these guys:

Good luck ninjas! As usual, please like me on facebook for more updates!!

Half Off Galaxy Squad!

Greetings ninjas! I was doing some searching on how to make a Lego table, and I found a great deal at Toys R Us.  They have a giant Hive Crawler at 46% off! Its normally 74.99 and is now on sale for 34.98!

As you can see, the bulk of this is the giant bug.  My daughter walked by as I typed this post and thought it looked wicked cool! It also comes with three minifigures, one alien and two members of Red Squad as well as some other accessories like alien eggs.  If you paid attention to the other Galaxy Squad set that was 75 percent off, you'll notice some nice synergy here as well. The bug craft have the same machine bug fusion, the aliens look similar, and you'll already have a member of Green Squad. The magic price point is ten cents per piece; at this price it is a great 6 cents per piece!

On top of that, you can pick it up at a nearby Toys R Us and save on shipping!!  They are so expensive that 50% is usually enough to sell out, but they might drop further so like my facebook page to receive further updates! Good luck ninjas!

2.43 Lego Vikings!!

Greetings ninjas! As many of you know, I'm a huge fan of Brick Warriors.  This is a great site that lets you buy premium minifigure accessories.  These extra parts are truly awesome. I've built Roman Legions, space marines, and Viking warriors. And now they have Viking accessories for sale!! Buying a helmet, deer antlers, armor, and axe costs only 2.43!! (The shield is not on sale but is only another 1.33) This is a great deal. The magic price is about 3 dollars per minifigure, and depending on what you want most of the specialty figures cost between 7 and 9 dollars with many more costing 20 or more.  (I've got my eye on Ash from Evil Dead that will cost 22 dollars!!) For a few dollars, and less than the price of a Happy Meal, you can turn this guy:

Into one of these guys:

Now of course there are some caveats. These are accessories for minifigures that you already own.  And you also have to pay shipping. Its usually right around 4 dollars and shipped the same day.  This price is the same no matter how much you order and waived if you order 25. I usually order about 10 dollars of material to make the shipping worth it. In this case that would be enough to outfit three or four Viking warriors. That can be one for each child or enough to make your own mini army and plunder your normal Legos!!

We learned from Emmett that anybody can be the special, but he never heard of Brick Warrior accessories!! Make sure to follow me on Facebook to receive future updates. Good luck Ninjas!

Free Jurassic World!

Greetings ninjas! This Saturday, June 20th, Toys R Us is having a free Lego giveaway! As you can see below, you can make your own Jurassic World gate.  This looks pretty cool! I know our Toys R Us often runs out, so I would get there about 15 or 30 minutes early.  Good luck ninjas!

One dollar Marvel!!

Greetings Ninjas. I highlighted the Minifigure Outlet store when they had a sale on Clone Troopers. Now they have a similar sale on two Marvel villains, Crossbones and Whiplash. Both are on sale for 99 cents!! With the minimum of 2.30 for shipping (though it may vary by location) you are getting a nice Lego for less than the cost of a specialized mini figure with Lego store blind bags, and far less than what you'll pay on Amazon or Ebay for hard to find figures.

For those of you that don't remember these villains, Crossbones is the SHIELD agent that tried to arrest Captain America in the elevator scene. He fought with the Falcon and survived the destruction of the building. He has a small but pivotal role in the next Captain America movie (wearing his new wicked cool armor of course):

Whiplash is a little bit easier to remember as the bad guy from Iron Man 2:

The usual caveats apply. These are not official Lego products. As such they vary in quality and may offend some purists. My daughter and her friends play with these off brand Legos all the time and they haven't noticed. And the price point is far better than what you get elsewhere. I feel fine paying 3 dollars and change for some wicked cool mini figures I can add to my collection.

Good luck Ninjas! As usual, please like me on facebook for further updates.

Lego Fusion 40% Off!

Greetings Ninjas! Toys R Us is having a great sale on their Lego Fusion products. They normally sell for 35 dollars, and now they are on sale for 20 dollars!!!! That is a great deal at about 40% off.
Lego Fusion is a fun product that is part real world play and part app. You get a simple set of Legos that let you build a town, castle tower, or resort. Then you scan the creation with your app and you play a game with it. For example, you have to protect your castle tower from marauding creatures with catapults. About ten cents per piece is a good deal on a set, and this is well under that threshold. And many of the good game apps cost about 10 or 15 dollars, making this comparable. As a result this is a fairly good deal just for the pieces or the app, and here you get both. Good luck Ninjas! And as always, make sure to follow me on facebook for future updates!

50%Off Lego Mixel

Greetings ninjas. I was in the store today and found series 3 Mixels 50% off!! They are normally 4.99 which is too much for me. But I found them for 2.50 at the local Lego Store. I'm not the biggest fan of these for 4.99, but I warmed up to them paying 2.50 lol!

You can see here the great variety they have. I enjoy the blue versions a great deal. The wizard is a goofy version of some other wizards I have, and this little guy is a strangely cute addition to the Elsa advent calendar I'm making. (You know, instead of having flying monkeys Elsa can have a flying...whatever that is.)  I couldn't find any of these available online for this price, so you should check your local Lego or toy store.  Good luck ninjas! If you enjoy my updates, make sure to like me on facebook to get more notifications.

Brick Warriors Memorial Day Sale

Greetings ninjas! As most of you know, Brick Warriors is one of my favorite sites. Most specialized minifigures are 20 dollars or more at places like Ebay or Amazon. But at Brick Warriors you can take a rather ordinary Lego from storage, and transform it into one of your coolest figures at the cost of only a few dollars per minifigure.

They are having a good Memorial Day Sale offering 22% off your purchase using code Memorial15.  The minimum purchase is 10 dollars and shipping adds another 4 dollars. But considering each item such as the ranger helm (second from the left), spiked mace (second from right), and giant hammer (far right) usually sell between 50 cents and 1 dollar, you can get at least ten accessories. The mid teens is far less than the box games like Monopoly that many buy, and even a child's movie ticket and popcorn would cost that much. So this is a great way to really fire your kid's imagination. Good luck Ninjas, and if you enjoyed this article make sure to like me on facebook to stay updated!

85 cent Minifigures!!

I'm working on my daughter's Christmas advent calender and need a lot of minifigures to pad my collection. (I know its early, but I enjoy this process haha.)  I found an amazing lot on Amazon that features ten minifigures for 4 dollars! This is an amazing deal as you can get minifigures for the small price of 39 cents each.  The shipping is 4.59, which will make your total come out to 8.59, or 85 cents per minifigure!!! This is still a great deal.

Of course, there is always a word of caution. These are so cheap because they are likely Chinese knockoffs. Some purists might be offended, and there is some legitimate worry your children might be able to tell they're playing with cheap crap. Neither concern really bothers me as long as you realize what you're getting ahead of time. These are fairly obvious knockoffs to most adults, but most kids can't tell the difference. My daughter and her friends play with S world Lego compatible figures and they have never commented on the difference.  This is a great chance to buy a stack of Lego (like) products that you can give to your kids just because, save them for your own advent calender, or use as goody bag items at birthday or school parties. They also add a great deal of flavor to your collection. You'll see there are some that look like a 3 Musketeer, Indiana Jones, and even a Santa figure, you'll get ten random ones chosen from the 20 pictured.  Good luck ninjas! Make sure to like me on facebook to see the most recent updates!!

Free Lego Star Wars Poster!

Greetings ninjas! Since May the 4th sounds a great deal like "May the force (be with you)" there are always some great Star Wars celebrations.  The Lego Store is offering a free Star Wars poster with any Star Wars purchase!! This means that you can get the free poster with something as small as a Yoda Key Chain for 3.99.  (Though if you aren't near a Lego store the shipping will add about 4 dollars.) I'm a big fan of the Micro fighters, these are mini versions of ships that normally cost a hundred dollars, but the micro version is about ten.  I'm thinking about getting the ARC fighter  but most of you will like the mini AT-AT . That little guy is so cute its tough to believe you are being invaded by the Empire!!

My daughter has attended at least two star so I'm probably buying a little key chain that I can use as a birthday present.  The poster will make a good addition to my Christmas stash. As you can see, this is a good chance for you to do some advanced shopping. These supplies often sell out quickly, so if you're interested I would hurry. Good luck ninjas!! Make sure to like my facebook page for further updates.

Lego Castle sale on Amazon

Greetings ninjas! I found an excellent deal on Amazon. The Forest Ambush from the Lego Castle Series is 33% off and currently priced at 7.98!  These prices fluctuate a a great deal, so if you had your eye on it, or didn't mind splurging 8 dollars for 4 minifigures, a treasure cart, and a catapult this is a good deal.

This has all of the usual perks from Amazon, including two day shipping, or a dollar credit for no rush shopping.  For parents with multiple kids the 4 minifigures allows you to split them up and allow each child their own. Or this makes a good vignette to add to your existing collecting. Of course, this is always another chance to grab a birthday present ahead of time.  Happy hunting Ninjas!

Amazon 60% Off Lego Molds

Greetings Ninjas! I found another great sale at Amazon!! This is a chance to get some lego molds. This means you can make ice cubes, popsicles, fudge, cupcakes and so much more in the shape of Legos!!  They are normally 29.99 and now they are 11.99. That is 60% off!!!

I don't have any Lego molds, but I did buy some Han Solo Carbonite ice trays. They are really fun for the kids, and a funny thing to bring out at parties. As you can see in the pictures, there are a variety of great activities you can do with this.  (Molding broken crayons into a Lego man? Brilliant!!) Grab yours today and good luck ninjas!

Amazon Spring Clearance Sale!!

Greetings Ninjas!  Amazon is having 20 to 50% off on many of their Lego items!! There are so many sales I highly recommend you visit their Lego page and check it out!! I particularly like the Star Wars micro fighters. I don't have several hundred dollars to buy the large version of a Tie Fighter or Millennium Falcon. But for about 11 dollars, or the sale price of 8 or 9 dollars, you can get micro versions of them. I got one of the mini AT-ATs  and they are super cute. And its hard to get a Han Solo mini figure without paying a ton of money for it, but you can get one and the Millennium Falcon for 8.79!!! Thats a great deal considering just the mini figure sells for as much as 6 dollars on Ebay. And don't forget that if you have Amazon prime its free shipping, and you have a chance to earn a dollar credit if you aren't in a hurry. If you get a small one like this it would make a great Easter basket surprise!

There are good deals all around. City construction sets have some great deals. My daughter particularly enjoys the arctic themed Legos. You wouldn't think so, but the orange on blue mini figures have a nice look.  And it comes with cool accessories like a parka and lots of arctic themed animals like sled dogs and polar bears. You can find one of the smallest sets on sale for 5 dollars!! The best deals are 50% off on the Galaxy Squad set! I bought this on sale at Toys R Us about a month ago and I love it! The green alien looks a great deal like the predator from the movie Predator.  The bug looking vehicle looks great, and it goes good with the free Bionicle spiders the Lego store was giving away. (I got one for every purchase I made, so I ended up with several even after giving several away. Its tough being the Lego Ninja sometimes!! lol.)  Two mini figures and about 17 dollars worth of pieces (at the price count of ten cents a piece) for 10 dollars, plus free shipping and a dollar credit is a great deal!! Finally, if your kids are anything like mine you probably worry about how much time they spend playing Mine Craft.  Well many of those are at least 20% off!  My daughter doesn't have the cave so I'm thinking about picking that one up.  I might be a super stealth savings ninja, but I don't know much about Mine Craft, but I know my daughter likes it, and it looks like the cave has some cool elements. It comes with two mini figures and a spider!

Its always great shopping at Amazon. I love the free shipping, and I'm rarely in a hurry for yet one more Lego set so I love that they offer you free credits.  Easter is coming up so this is a great chance to surprise them with some really neat Legos in their baskets or get something just because.  I know one family that has three birthday coming up in almost consecutive months. With a little bit of advanced planning you can have your shopping done, at a great discount, without even leaving your home! As always, good luck ninjas! One Dollar Star Wars!!

I came across a great company called The Minifigure Outlet Store.  They are having a special for a one dollar clone trooper! The exact price is 1.25 cents.  And shipping is the minimum at 2.32. (I know its the minimum because I ship minifigures on ebay.)  For contrast, a blind bag at the Lego store costs 3.99, and its one of 16 in that given series.  Here you can get one for 3.57 including shipping!!!

Now a word of caution.  As you can see from the picture these are "S World" minifigures and not officially the Lego Brand. That means they might be a lesser quality than official Lego models.  I have several of these, and have had many kids play with them, and they've never noticed or commented on the difference.  I know that I feel the difference in my pocket book when I buy a knock off brand compared 20 dollars for a set that has the Green Latern or 30 dollars for one with The Flash. (My two current "must have" Lego figures.)  I'm sure you'll feel okay with the quality difference paying just 3.57 for a wicked awesome clone soldier! Good luck Ninjas! Free Toys R Us Ninjago

Greetings ninjas! As a fellow Lego Ninja I'm especially proud to announce this one. Toys R Us is having a free Lego Ninjago giveaway!! It takes place this Saturday from 12-2.  I highly recommend getting there 15 minutes early as the line forms quickly and the product disappears just as fast. At the Toys R Us that me and my daughter frequent even the adults get one too! Good luck ninjas!

Free Fire Elf at Walmart!!

Greetings ninjas! You can't get much better than free.  This post is brought to you through an old school notification.  Walmart is offering a free Azari Fire Elf mini doll!! I don't have a link because it was sent by post card.  (I know right?! Apparently that's still a thing.) I guess I buy so many Legos I got put on a list.  If you're in the Vegas area it is happening on Saturday March 28th from 11-4 at the Tropical Parkway Walmart.  In the fine print it also says "show this postcard."  I'm not sure how vigorously they are enforcing that.  And I searched all over and couldn't find this announcement anywhere else, so if you're outside the Las Vegas area please contact your local Walmart to find out more.

Lego Elves are a new product line mainly for females. As you can see from the Lego store, they have a variety of interesting colors and sets that should appeal to many.  This is a great chance to grab a free Lego set this Saturday. If you're local Walmart is doing this, plan to show up at least 15 minutes early and be patient.  Everybody is just as excited as you, so there is a greater chance it can go all Black Friday on you. Though I've done many of these free giveaways at Toys R Us, and the Lego store and they never do.  But there is a nervous energy and fairly large crowds that suggest it has potential.  (Or maybe that's just my anxiety talking.)  Anyways,  good luck Ninjas!  Make sure to follow me on facebook for more updates!

Nanoblock Hot Rod

Greetings! I found a great deal on a Nanoblock Hot Rod.  Nanoblock is a Lego like company that offers slightly smaller pieces and hence more definition and detail.  Amazon normally prices them at 26 dollars, but right now they are on sale for 20.  On Ebay you can bid for the next five days starting at just 9.99!!! That's about 60% off the listed price!! If you don't have the time to bid, or if the bid reaches 19.99 you have the buy it now option, which is still the on sale price offered by Amazon.
This is great for those that like cars, but don't like the high prices of most Nanoblock products.  The detailed engine, black color, and flames make it a nice present for adults that would normally balk at Legos.  Good luck Ninjas!!

33% off Brick Warriors

I love the Brick Warriors  site. They are a great place to pimp out your Legos for far less than it costs to buy the specialized minifigures. For example, the Roman Legion Commander currently sells for 11.15, and the Roman Legion is currently 16 dollars.  I've seen both as high as 18 dollars...per figure!!!  At Brick Warriors I can buy a sword, shield, helmet, and armor, for just under 5 dollars. That is more than 50% off the current price, and often times as much as 75% off. Brick Warriors now has an offer for 33% off their castle products!! This includes items such as ranger hoods and English long bows to create Robin Hood minifigures, court jester hats, long swords for King Arthur fantasies, and even items like bear traps and hidden daggers.

There is a minimum charge of 10 dollars to use this coupon. And there is a 4 dollar charge for shipping.  But as I showed above, if you are pimping out two or three Legos you can easily cross that threshold, and if you want to things like Viking warriors, or dragon wings you can cross the 25 dollar threshold and get free shipping. This is a great deal that ends on Monday the 9th, so if you wanted to make your child feel like a master builder, and let them turn ordinary Legos into unforgettable child hood favorites for about the price of a single movie ticket, this is your chance!

As I've said before, a custom minifigure will make a fantastic treat to find inside an Easter egg!! I did Indiana Jones once and my daughter loved it! Unless they bite it, the figure won't rot their teeth either lol!! (If you have multiple kids, you might find the Chima army builder a good choice.) Good luck ninjas!

Lego Store Bionicle Giveaway

Greetings! The Lego Store is offering a free Bionicle product with the purchase of any item in the store. That includes this Obi Wan Kenobi magnet selling for 1.50!!!!  You simply place the product in your cart, and then the free Bionicle Hero pack is also placed there.  This means you can get two Lego products for two dollars! That kind of deal does not happen very often.  (Though if you can't make it to a Lego store the shipping will add about 5 dollars which makes this much less of a good deal.)  As you can tell from the picture, this is more of a boy toy. Though you can use this map for a variety of things such as pretending the princess castles are located there, and even come up with your own style of Lego Risk if you want! If you can make it into a Lego store this is a great chance for you to pick up some nice goodies for about the cost of a large drink at MacDonalds!

Last time Lego had an offer like this for a Star Wars AT-DP, and it sold out in less than seven days. So if you want this deal you'll have to jump on it! Good luck ninjas!

Walmart Savings Catcher!

You probably saw this title and did a double take. How on Earth could I be talking about Christmas so early in the year?! This program works best the earlier you start, but imagine getting free Legos for no out of pocket cost as I discuss the Walmart Savings Catcher.

This is very easy to use! You set up a username and password at the savings catcher website. Each time you shop, you take your receipt and either enter it online (see the middle left in the picture) or scan it if your phone is capable.  Then Walmart does the rest of the work as they search online for every sale at major retailers. After they compare the deals they refund you the difference on any deals that you would have received at other stores!! You see in the middle right of the picture this person saved 70 cents and has a total of 5.60 thus far. This is why you should start early.  I spend about 50 dollars a week on food, and usually save between 50 cents and 4 dollars. I'm extremely lucky to have such a low monthly bill, but I imagine many of you spend several times that.   I've only been using the system for just over 3 months and have 50 dollars. By Christmas I expect to have about 150 dollars. So it doesn't seem like much, but it adds up and many of you could have several hundred dollars by then!  When you are ready you can either shop online with that amount or they can mail you a gift card.

There are a variety of ways to look at this money. You could consider this a really slow layaway plan where you increase your savings about a few dollars per week. But this is money that you've already spent on weekly necessities, which is then refunded to you, so it sure feels like free money. This means that you can shop for Legos and get far better deals than anything you'll see on Black Friday, and you can do it any time during your holiday shopping without facing the crowds, or possibly leaving your home!!!!

Of course this deal only works if you shop at Walmart, and it seems to apply mostly to food items.  But if you start early, already or don't mind food shopping at Walmart, you can have a rather nice amount to do your Christmas shopping by the end of the year.  Good luck ninjas!

75% Off Galaxy Squad!

Greetings! I was searching for a couple items and ran across a fantastic deal. Toys R Us has a Galaxy Squad Set on sale for 6 dollars!! That is almost 75% off.  This set comes with 171 pieces and two minifigures. Keep in mind that most polybags come with one minifigure and cost between 3 and 5 dollars. (And the special ones like Rocket Raccoon or Indiana Jones often sell for more than 20 on the aftermarket.) The blind bags cost 3.99 each.  So this is two minifigures for 3 dollars each.  On top of that, you get 171 pieces and two vehicles.  The magical price point for being a decent value is about 10 cents a piece. In this case that means it would be a good deal at 17 dollars. As a result, just the minifigures, or the set would be a great deal on their own, but for only 6 dollars you are getting both! Now of course, this is on sale because its not the most popular series. You aren't getting a cool Darth Vader, Rocket Raccoon, or even some storm troopers. But for a price slightly higher than a happy meal, this is a hard to beat price for Legos.  Toys R Us will allow you to pick up in the store as soon as an hour, or in as many as five days after you order so you can avoid shipping costs as well!
This is a great chance to pick up an early birthday present for your kids, surprise them with some news Legos just because, or even put the minifigures into Easter eggs as special prizes when they hunt!  (And unless they bite it, at least these won't rot their teeth! lol)  Happy hunting ninjas!

Toys R Us B.O.G.O.

Greetings future ninjas! Toys R Us is having a bogo sale. This stands for "buy one get one..." Sometimes it is buy one get one free. At this time, when you buy a Star Wars, Friends, or City Construction Set you get another one for 40% off. Keep in mind that they make you pay full price for the larger item.  (So you can't buy a 5 dollar item and then get 40% off the 300 dollar Star Destroyer. I found that out the hard way!!)  This deal works best for those that were buying something anyway. But it also works if you wanted to save money on several items, such as several squads of storm troopers you need to make an army. I mentioned Polybags yesterday, those are the little bags that offer a very simple and low priced figure or model between 3 and 5 dollars. I picked up a nice Halloween Pumpkin last year and you can get something similar for only a couple dollars extra!

If you weren't planning on buying you might want to hold off for a better deal.  But if you were planning on purchasing anyway, this is a pretty good deal for you. Good luck ninjas!
